Our Professional Staff 
Kevin Overbey - Director and Instructor
Mr. Overbey danced professionally for over fifteen years with nationally recognized companies such as The San Antonio Ballet, Atlanta Ballet, and Nevada Ballet Theatre. He also performed in the acclaimed Bally’s “Jubilee” in Las Vegas, and “Red Hot” in Shanghai China. Kevin taught dance throughout his performing career and has a degree in Education from University of Nevada Las Vegas. Mr. Overbey is the Director of Southside Dance Studio, and he is the main ballet teacher for the school. In addition, Mr. Overbey has been working as a guest teacher at the Tennessee Conservatory of Fine Arts in Knoxville and has set some choreography on their company. Mr. Overbey brings a rich eclectic knowledge of dance technique, and an ability to make that technique comprehensible to his students. He has been successful in helping his students transform technique into artistry.
Betsey Dixon - Intro to Ballet & Beginning Tap Instructor
Betsy Dixon began dancing at the age of four and spent her youth
studying classical ballet, jazz and tap in her hometown of Florence, Ala. During high school, she applied her dance training as a majorette with the marching band and participating in beauty pageants for performance experience. Betsy began her college career at Huntingdon College in Montgomery, Ala.,where she was privileged to study ballet with Leslie Norton, a former professional dancer with American Festival Ballet and author of a biography on Russian choreographer Leonide Massine. While attending Huntingdon, Betsyp performed in several musical theater productions and had featured dancer roles in "Cotton Patch Gospel" and "Anything Goes." Betsy moved to Asheville to finish her college career at UNCA, where she was an original member of the university's dance team. After a long post-college break to get married and start a family, Betsy returned to the world of dance as a teacher at the First United Methodist Church's Dance Academy in Lexington, Ky. From 2005 to 2008, she taught the academy's youngest students, emphasizing musicality and creative movement while also teaching ballet and tap basics. During the 2008 season, Betsy was the sole teacher, managing the school from registration through the year-end recital. Betsy has extensively studied different methods of teaching dance as well as becoming a minor expert in child psychology and development. She believes dance is a great way to get young children comfortable and confident with themselves in a social environment.
Paulette Cole - Ballroom Dancing 
Paulette Cole has extensive experience teaching at nationally recognized schools in Washington DC, and Honolulu, Hawaii. She is known locally for her work with The Heritage Dance Championships held at the Grove Park Inn every March. Paulette is now living and teaching in Asheville NC. Ms Cole started her International style training in Washington DC under North American 10 Dance Champions, Al Franz and Beverly Donahue. She also studied under Geoffrey Fells who is a Dual Fellow with the Imperial Society for Teachers of Dancing in London. Paulette holds an associate degrees in Standard and Latin with The ISTD, as well as a Member’s degree in both Standard and Latin, as lady and as man. Her performances credits include competitions held at The Waldorf Astoria and Madison Square Garden in New York City.
